Tzedek DC Financial Empowerment
Community Guidelines
-
Each person's financial journey is unique. While we may share similarities in our experiences, no two of us are exactly alike. We should respect and accept what we have in common, while also acknowledging and celebrating our individual differences.
-
It's okay to talk about what we are learning, but we should also respect those who prefer to listen without sharing. We should actively listen when someone is speaking and avoid interrupting them. If we feel like we may forget our thoughts or questions, writing them down may be helpful. As a courtesy to others, please take your calls outside and silence all cell phones.
-
Any thoughts, feelings, or experiences shared in the group should stay within the group. We must respect others' right to confidentiality and not use the names of fellow participants in discussions outside the group.
-
Each person should be given equal time to express themselves, so no one person monopolizes the group's time. We should avoid giving unsolicited advice and only share ideas that helped us if we experienced a similar situation.
-
We should recognize that our thoughts and feelings are neither right nor wrong. We should enter into the thoughts of other group members without trying to change them.
-
Finally, we should create an atmosphere of willing and invited sharing. If we feel pressured to talk but do not want to, we should say so, and our right to quiet contemplation will be respected by the group.
-
We encourage self-advocacy or any advocacy to ensure all disability and allergy needs are accommodated, listened to, and heard. If you did not get a chance to state your disability and/or allergy requests during registration, please notify any Tzedek DC staff member so we can ensure your accommodations are met.
